How to avoid a hair-do horror story
So, you’ve found a new hair stylist and you are headed to your first hair appointment. Lots of emotions and questions are probably swirling through your head right now. Will he or she chop off all your hair? Will you come out looking like something straight from a 1980’s teeny bop flick? Will your hair color look white instead of blond? Well, have you done your homework yet? Have you done the necessary due diligence beforehand to find out the necessary information? Here are some key questions and clues you should look for in your new hair stylist:
Most importantly, what does your stylist’s hair look like? This is CLUE #1! Does he or she take time and care in their appearance? If they care what they look like, more than likely they will care what YOU look like.
How long has the hair stylist in question been doing hair? I like to think anything over three or five years would be a safe bet.
Do they ask questions about what’s important to you? Are they concerned about hair care or just getting you out the door as quickly as possible?
Is their shop clean and organized? Is their waiting area full?
What is his/her chairside manner? Do your personalities click? Do they seem patient or tired and overworked?
Although this is not an exhaustive list, this will at least get you started in the right direction.
